Rifle/Shotgun Shooting Camp

After a two-year layoff, the troop once again spent a fall weekend learning rifle and shootgun shooting skills. This year, The South Cuyahoga Sportsmen's Association let the Scouts use their ranges in Chatham, Ohio. The camp is preceeded by three weeks of safety instruction by NRA certified instructors at the regular Troop meetings.

This year, 19 Scouts and 6 adults made the trip. Included was brand new assistant Scoutmaster Jerry Mueller and Randy Minnis, father of one of the newest Scouts in the troop. As one can see from the following pictures, everyone got to work on target shooting skills with the .22 rifle and smash clay targets on the shotgun range.

Three Scouts qualified for Rifle Shooting merit badge and two were good enough to shoot their score for Shotgun Shooting merit badge.

A big thanks to our instructors: Mr. Machala and Mr. Duncan and a special thanks to Bill McClosky of the SCSA for giving up his day (and part of the evening) to be the rifle range officer.
